This screen at the Mid-Ulster Hospital in Magherafelt is approximately 6 metres long in total and provides 3 service openings, including the one seen on the short side with a lower counter for wheelchair users. The frame is made of powder counted steal sections with intumescent strips to seal around the sliding sections in the event of a fire. The glass is 6mm Pyran-S. A trickle charged battery powered supply unit is provided with connections to the building alarm system so that the screen automatically closes in the event of a fire. The power supply unit incorporates battery condition indicators, and a test switch to simulate the alarm condition during routine maintenance procedures.
